Travel Info Anybody been to Memphis Tennessee and visited Elvis Presley home Graceland please tell me your views? Travel Tips I thought it was pretty well done and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. I thought it would be pretty tacky and full of loony visitors dressed as Elvis but actually it was fairly tasteful and informative. You're allowed to take your time wandering around the house (a personal audio tour if I recall correctly). No flash photos are allowed inside the house so make sure you know how to set your camera for a long flash-free exposure. I would certainly go again if I visited Memphis again. Others Went to visit 12 years ago, they did a good tour, but would not let us go anywhere near the kitchen...maybe elvis was making peanutbutter-banana sandwiches! It was strange to be in the same rooms that he had been in....kinda creepy....he sure did have a flair for gaudy decor! i havent ever been but i heard that it is something that every one of his fans should see. I was surprised with it. It does have its outrageous rooms but a lot of them are very tasteful. Husband went to Graceland as someone who liked Elvis and now seems to be a fanatic! Seeing the graves is actually quite sad- and I hadn't thought it would have that effect on me. It is a pretty house from the outside and in lovely grounds. You can wonder round at your own pace- no one hurries you but once you leave a room you can't return to it. Very well organised. I enjoyed my tour of Graceland because of Elvis Presley's iconic status in music. The rooms were much smaller than I imagined and the decor was definitely not what I expected. Seeing the memorabilia of his life was very interesting. I think it is a must-see for any Elvis fan. |
