Family road trip fromGeorgia to California does anyone know of any landmarks along the way? |
Travel Info Thinking of taking a family road trip. Looking for unusual landmarks not the usual theme parks (been there done that) along the way. Would like to experience the history of the U.S. Travel Tips You should check out The Grand Canyon. Maybe swing by The Alamo in San Antonio or Dealey Plaza in Dallas. Las Vegas for sure if you've never seen it. Joshua Tree in California. Others You didn鈥檛 specify from where in Georgia you鈥檇 be leaving. I鈥檓 assuming from Atlanta. Nor did you spedify where in Cali. you're headed - I assume Los Angeles. If you鈥檙e planning to take I-20 to I-10, I don鈥檛 recall many landmarks along that stretch 鈥?it鈥檚 really quite boring actually. I think you鈥檇 have a much better time seeing all the scenery along a different route that might add 5 or 6 total driving hours to your trip. Here鈥檚 the drive I would suggest: Take I-75 to Chattanooga, Tennessee Take I-24 to Nashville, Tennessee Continue on I-24 to St. Louis, Missouri Take I-70 to Kansas City, Kansas Continue your trip on I-70, you鈥檒l see the scenery change quite a lot! Of all my driving, I-70 through Utah and Colorado was in my opinion some of the most beautiful scenery too see. Somewhere in Kansas is the center of the continental US, You鈥檒l pass through Denver, Colorado and near Breckenridge and Vail, Colorado (famous skiing resorts) which are in the Rocky Mountains. Once you get across the continental divide, you鈥檒l see badlands 鈥?very beautiful rock formations in desert. Then take I-15 through St. George, Utah and on into Las Vegas, Nevada. Continue on I-15 to see the northern edge of the Mojave Desert. Continue still on to Los Angeles, California.
