What is the best way to get from Glasgow Airport to Edinburgh - hopefully directly without having to change.? |
Travel Info I don't want the expense of a long-distance taxi! Travel Tips First off, do you mean Glasgow International or Glasgow Prestwick? They're about forty miles apart and it's impossible to get from either to Edinburgh without changing. If it's International the best way is to get the Citylink service 905 from the terminal to Buchanan Street Bus Station. From there you can get one of the Citylink services to Edinburgh (one every 15-30mins and takes about 1hr - 1hr 10mins and cost about 拢5) or you can take a short walk to Queen Street Train Station (about 5mins) and get the train (every 15mins and takes about 40-45mins. Cost varies depending on time of day). Both options take you to central Edinburgh. A taxi into central Glasgow will be roughly 拢10-12. However, if you are coming from Prestwick things are different, as it's a lot further away. Fortunately the airport now subsidises transport and you can get into Glasgow for free these days (check their website for details). The train will be marginally quicker but it'll be one of the horrible SMT ones that are a throwback to the 60s, so you may want to opt for the bus, especially as it goes to Buchanan Street rather than Central Station (an extra walk to both the bus station and the right train station). Taxi will be about 拢30-40 to Glasgow. Once in Glasgow chose the option you prefer from above. Has a busy route between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Timetables and booking. GNER The Great North Eastern Railway has trains running every hour between Edinburgh and London, as well as offering services up to Aberdeen and Inverness. National Rail Offers a useful resource for planning your trip by train by integrating the timetables of different railway companies and routes. The Trainline (registration) After registering your details you to search out the cheapest fares for any journey in the UK and buy your train ticket online. http://www.edinburghguide.com/travel/tra... mapquest.com You're going to have to change, as there is no direct form of transport. I used to get a taxi to Queen Street Station - or if your budget is tight, get the shuttle bus Queen Street and then take the train.
