House prices can be high, particularly in desirable parts of Edinburgh and Glasgow. To get an idea, look at rental/house prices in the area where you would like to live. Also think of what you spend on groceries, and look at similar goods in UK supermarkets like Tesco and Asda. If you've been offered a job, figure out how much you'll pay in taxes, and also look into transport costs. And finally - books are definitely cheap! Others it is if you work in Penzance I suppose that's really going to depend on what you consider expensive, as well as where you intend to live. Housing can be very expensive in cities, but you can find good deals outside of the cities. As far as the cost of living, it's similar to the rest of England, but whether that's expensive, or not, would depend on what you're used to. Coming from the US. I found all of the UK to be expensive. It tends to work out, for the most part, with the standard cost of living here. |
