Travel Info Have you been to Greece, what do you think about it and its people? What should I know about it? Travel Tips I went to Greece for 6 days. It was absolutely beautiful the entire time. Hot, but dry heat so you won't feel it. Huge bugs but few of them. Watch out for sea urchins on the beach. Make sure you stay in a modern hotel -- that is, one where you are allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilet! The people are extremely friendly and love to party! When they say 'no', they nod their head. When they say 'yes', they shake their head, sometimes. So don't get confused. They are really beautiful, and most speak English, but if they don't, they are typically very understanding and still try to communicate with you. They are very proud of their history, and rightfully so! You will see ruins whereever you go! Get the yogurt with honey, it is to die for (I'm trying to find a good recipe or place to buy it). Buy olives, of course, and honey. It'll be worth it for a lifetime. Make sure you stay out late, they have dinner very late, and always outside. No restaurant did I go to was indoors. A TON of stray cats, but they are friendly. Just wash your hands. Walk everywhere if you can. If you can sing, sing in the ampitheaters. Explore everywhere! (I didn't get to go to Rome, that's another trip in itself!) Man, just talking about it gets me teary eyed. :) Others I am greek and I can tell you from experience that we are strange people.We are capable of the best or the worst.All greeks though (for some reason hidden in our DNA) behave better when in contact with foreigners.Maybe cause Zeus the leader of the ancient Gods protected foreigners and was often called "Xenios"-I remind you of the word "xeno-phobia",fear of strangers.After all it should not be all greek to you! |
