Greece a day trip from Athens, and suggestions for transportation?

Travel Info
please, if posible include directions, We will be in Hotel Adonis in the Plaka district

Travel Tips
From Athens you have many choices, cause it's the capital of Greece. The choice of a day trip depends to how much money you have to spend for it.
If you have much to spend: Take a heli (helicopter) and go to Myconos-Dilos or Santorini (about 1h trip).See the link No 1
For lower budget, Take a boat from Piraeus to Aegina, Hydra or Poros islands (You can see all of them in one tour) cost appr 80 euros for all or about 60 for two islands with a meal.
You can also visit Ancient Corinthos and Mycenae or Delphi
about the same prices
For even lower budget you can visit the Sounion Temple (stay there till sunset, it's magic) or Eleusina by bus. It cost about 10 euros.
Your hotel must have many suggestions for a day trip. Trust them, they know, it's their work. Source(s): http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgresul...

Other Travel Tips
Ask the clerk at the hotel if they can recomend an provider of an excursion to Argolida (Mycenes, the Epidauros Theatre, Corynth).
Or you can take a ferry from Piraues , the port to one of the islands, but then you麓ll want really badly to stay there!!!
I went to Greece from Argentina as a backpacker in 1995 and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
Enjoy it!
I don't really know what your interests are and since you probably have only one day to spend, I would suggest a one day cruise to the Saronic Gulf islands (Aegina, Poros, Ydra and Spetses); it is quite cheap, you will see beautiful places and it's easy to access the port of Piraeus from Plaka using the metro. One of the many sites is:

A second choice would be a day tour to Delphi archeological site; you can find some information about this in the following site:

Tour buses usually leave from places very close to your hotel.

A third and fourth choice would be Mycenae or Olympia.

You can always make your own search about these or ask for information at your hotel after your arrival.

I hope this helps and I wish you have a wonderful time here. If I can be of any help, please contact me.
