Is Athens really busy?

I've heared that Athens is busy b/c of all the people that live there. I really want to go so I need to know.

ATHENS IS VERY VERY VERY VERY BUSY and crowded, lots of traffic......all the time, busy busy busy..but do not cross it off your list as VERTIGO suggested...you HAVE to go to see the ACROPOLIS if nothing else. He says it is overrated, but i do not think so. When u finally lay eyes on the PARTHENON up close, your eyes will fill up with tears from the indescribable beauty it...SO U MUST GO TO ATHENS FOR AT LEAST A COUPLE OF DAYS....then spend the rest of your vacation traveling to other places. Other Travel Tips
Its really an overrated city. Its super polluted and poorer looking than many other eastern european cities. The parthenon is really overrated. You cant touch anything and it costs $20.00 just to walk up a hill and stand near it. Athens really isnt a great place to go. Other places in Greece are WAAAAAAYYYY nicer. Oh and yes, Athens is super polluted and populated.
Athens is a big city-4/5 million people live there and it tends to get some nasty smog. It can be a fun place when its not brutally hot. If you go in August it tends to be a little dead because all the Greeks go on vacation. If you go to the Parthenon go early morning to beat the crowds. The best thing you could do other is spend a fwe days in Athens and then go to the islands-so much more fun!
Athens is like and unlike any big city. You have to see and stay a couple of days. I found a great site that has some good links and information about Athens and the area around it along with most of Greece. It is fantastic but go to be with the people not just to see the city
