Help with a Greek custom, please?? |
Travel Info An older greek gentleman made the sign of the cross over my friend's chest (touching my friend with his finger). My friend wants to know if that's a blessing, curse, excorcism, does he have to go to greek school now?? Any insight is appreciated! Travel Tips Just a blessing! And he wouldn't have done it if he didn't like your friend! The Cross is our protection through the power of Him Who was crucified on it and Who gave His Cross to us to be our banner and shield! And wants the best for your friend! I have a Yia Yia (Grandma) That does it and kisses me on the cheeks afterwards! Others Its a blessing it just means God bless you, i think It's a blessing there's nothing wrong with it. Us Greeks make the sign of the crossing many times in church as a blessing and ending to a prayer. Your friend is fine, he/she was blessed by a Greek. That man just wanted to make sure your was protected by God, that God and His angels were watching over your friend. |
