Has anyone ever been to Santorini? |
Travel Info I would love to go there, but was wondering more about it. Are the natives welcoming to tourists? Is English well-known and understood? Any recommendations about where to stay? Travel Tips I've been in Santorini many times. English is well-known and understood. Everybody can help you in Greece. People are very kind, help full, friendly and love tourists. For Greeks tourists are respectable persons. Food is very good, tasty and cheap. Stay in Oia, Fira or Imerovigli. Find an hotel on caldera to can see the sunset. It's amazing (Oia's sunset is the best in the world!) Swim in Kamari or Perissa, two beaches with black sand. At Acrotiri, there is a whole ancient city that you can visit. Next to Acrotiri there ir a beach with red sand (Red beach!) Visit also Kameni island and the volcano crater. You can swim there in hot sea water. In Santorini you can find many restaurants, bars, taverns and hotels/rooms. Other Travel Tips No, but I am going in 6 weeks! The Greeks are very friendly and speak excellent English. Where to stay depends upon your budget! I am staying in Crete but taking a day trip to Santorini. Obviously, the range of accommodation is much greater in Crete! Next stop - the travel agents. We booked through Thomas Cook as they will match any internet price if it is compatible - and they were cheaper than the internet anyway! You also get the support of Thomas Cook if you have any problems. They also organise tours to places like Santorini. You will have a great time in Greece! I'm Greek and live in Greece.I have been to Santorini. It's a breath taking island.Almost everyone speaks English and Greeks are very friendly people. You will have a great time. There are many hotels and rooms for rent.If you plan to go in August book in advanced.IM me or email if you need more information. What an excellent choice and present to yourself! It will be a life experience which will make you a wiser and happier person! You will return to the island several times! People are great and History, both of us, people as well as geological is among the richest worldwide! Being in a boat, in the center of caldera will make you feel and give such energy that is great! Hi! I'm Greek and I've been to Santorini! Natives are very welcoming to tourists but it's hard to find them cause the island is full of tourists!!! It's true almost every Greek speaks english and it's very difficult to find a Greek who doesn't understand few English. I've stayed at "Caldera's Dolphin" which was excellent (a little bit expensive) but it was about 8km from Fira (town) if u'll have a transportation I advice u to check it : http://www.santonet.gr/hotels/dolphin... Have a nice stay! We had a stop in Santorini on our Mediterranian cruise. We had a tour of the island and so saw most of it. It was very nice. Its very pretty and the people were very friendly. |
