Travel Info Wanting to travel throgh the Greek Isles by boat. End of Sept start of Oct. Who with and is it a good time? Travel Tips I suppose that your question has two parts, the boats and the islands. Travelling by boat in early October should not be a problem. The weather is still good and the wind has not picked up yet. You can travel with confort. Of course, there is a chance of bad weather. If the sea is really bad the ships to not sail so you get stuck on the island. This is not often in October at all but it can happen. High winds should not last, in any case more than a day. The ships are big and safe but they take extra precautions for the passengers and it happens when it almost impossible to travel. The other thing is the frequency of departuers. In October many ships go for repairs after a very big and buzy summer period. The departuters are less frequent than in in the summer but still that are often enought. Most of the islands should have two departures a day but others only one (usually the small ones). The islands are still busy but not that much. Some of the stores and hotels will be closed for winter. The choices for accomodation would be less but you will still be able to find good accomodation. Clubs, bars etc will be open but not that busy and during the week you may end up in a club with only about 20-30 people. Of course this depends on the island. The good thing is that the prices will be lower than in August actualy much lower. I can not give you a very definite answer. It depends what you want. Many people travel during this period but it is not compered to summer. If you want endless partying you will be able to do it but with a slower pace. For seightseeing, relaxing and enjoying the sea is a good period. The sea is still warm and many people go swimming (usualy not Greeks). Pools is another good option if you feel cold. You will also have a small problem packing. During the day is warm but in the night you feel cold so a sweater is needed. Have fun Others Yes, it is a good time.
