I'd recommend some form of insurance, just in case. However, if you are a student, look into getting an ISIC card. It has most of the basic coverage that you'd need and it is only $25. In addition to the insurance, it is also a discount card. I got 60% off a 4 star hotel in Istanbul, and get half-price admission to many archaeological sites in Greece and cheaper internet cafe rates. If you need more insurance than just basic (which probably won't be necessary), call STA Travel, and they can hook you up for about $125.
