Travel Tips It is safe, especially since in the last decade, they have built major freeways which allow you to travel safely and quickly from one city to the next. Things to take into consideration: 1) Don't drive at night. Plan your trip and chose major cities where to stop to spend the night, preferable a hotel with a secure parking lot 2) Obey all speed limits, signs, etc 3) Plan your trip in advance. Purchase the Guia Roji, which is their version of a thomas guide, and get the one for cross country driving. It tells you exact distances, direction, where the gas stations are along the way 4) Have plenty of change since all the major roads are toll roads. I've driven extensively, and have loved it, but will never drive at night nor stop to help anyone, or pull over because someone is signalling.
