Traveling around Mexico, looking for the most beautiful nature with quiant towns close by, your suggestions? |
Travel Info We have been through Monterrey, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Guanojuato, Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido. We are thinking of going back through Oaxaca to see the pyramids, then on to Campeche and around to the Telum area. We liked Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido and that area so far, the other was not our cup of tea. We have four more months of travel. Would you also recommend Guatamala and maybe even Costa Rica? Travel Tips Lots of interesting stuff in the Patzcuaro area. Colonial city, Purh茅pecha culture, Lake Zirahuen, Volcan Paricutin, copper craftsmen, mask carvers and many local crafts. Adding to the other answer, try the Michoacan state, where Patzcuaro is located. In the vicinity is Morelia, a beautiful city, Uruapan, then drive to Colima. From there you can admire the beautiful volcanoes and drive to the beach. There are a lot of unspoiled virgin beaches in the area. From Colima you can go to Guadalajara and Lake Chapala and then from there towards Taxco in Guerrero state and back through Mexico City to Toluca and Cuernavaca. Hope this helps. Without a doubt, Nebaj, Guatemala. It is a small town in the department of Quiche. They are nestled in the mountains (close to where nobel peace prize winner Rigoberta Menchu is from) and the ride up there is gorgeous. It is off the beaten track and isn't inundated with tons of tourists. There is great hiking and a great restaurant called El Descanso with great food and a bunch of information for anyone passing through. They were one of the regions hit hardest by the recent civil war and their history is very interesting. I lived there for 5 months and loved it miss it! |
