Travel Info What can i do about my extreme fear of flying??? Travel Tips I have anxiety and phobias, too. What you should do really depends on what you fear and how badly you react to it. If you have a serious phobia, you may need to do something like a "10 step program" where you start off with just minimal proximity to a plane and gradually work up to flying. If your fear is less severe, try getting anxiety pills (Xanax work great for me) from your doctor. If your fear is related to claustrophobia, try sitting on the aisle seat. This helps me (and others) feel less closed in. Try the book below, or check on Amazon.com for anxiety books. There is one titled "The Relaxation Therapy Workbook", or something similar, that I''ve found to be very helpful. You can ask your docotor to perscribe anxiety pills for you. That depends: What is it about flying that you are afraid of? Drive the only way to lose a fear is to face it so i think you should fly Oh do I know that fear! Do what I did, just go for it..I went on a cruise with friends and the way to the ship was an airplane ride to Tampa .. I was really going threw extreme panic attacks at those moments cuz I knew that awful feeling of that unknown was gonna happen....But I remembered what my sister said to do.. its just like a car ride on a bumpy road ( sometimes) only you cant really see out the windows ( unless you sit by the window. I didnt..On the way back I did.. and Id do it again, I was intriged by the clouds..its true its really calm and nice up there..Id fly again.. |
