Buying a house in Israel? |
Travel Info Which city would be best to buy a condo in for a young professional jewish american? I plan to live there 4-6 months each year. Travel Tips why dont you just stay in your own country instead of living in a country that has been stollen from the palestinians?????????? Others It really depends what you are looking for. In your free time, will you be looking for spirituality? Or are you looking for a vibrant and lively scene? Other than that, do you intend to seek employment during that time, and in what capacity? It is not a simple question to answer. In much the same way as choosing a place to live in the US or anywhere else depends upon your personal situation, this is the case in Israel. If you are only going to spend 4-6 months each year, I would recommend renting serviced accomodation, at least the first time, so that you can work out what your preferences are in an Israeli context. As a rough guide, Jerusalem is where Jews flock to for their spiritual needs (duh!). Secular Jews may prefer to center themselves in Tel Aviv or one of the suburbs around it (the prices are cheaper) as it has more of a scene (although Jerusalem has plenty to offer too). Givatayim is a nice garden suburb very close to Tel Aviv, and a little further out of Tel Aviv (about 12 miles), Ra'ananna may be a good choice, as there are many English speakers living there and it has a good standard of living. Finally, if all you want are desert sun and a resort, Eilat would be your choice, although it is a five hour drive from the center of Israel. |
