Weekend Get Away From Springfield, Mo?

I want to go ona road trip not any further than 6 hours from Springfield, mo for the weekend, where is that? Some place fun and entertaining but not expensive, just taking a friend and my son to get away from this town. Any suggestions to anywhere would be GREAT!

It's winter, so stay warm. Go to Independence, MO, and take in the Harry Truman presidential library and museum. Then, take your son and friend out for some KC barbeque ribs.

You could go to Branson. You could also come down to Fayetteville, AR. There are some neat state parks here, and a wonderful show at the Walton Arts Center this weekend and next.
Saint louis is nice....just left there lots of museums and the zoo , alot to do and some of the places are free admission , night life is ok...
