However, if you went to a fancy restaurant where the waitress had to serve you several courses on your individual plate or grill meat at your table, it would be a good idea to tip. They don't expect certain percentage of your bill but you can tip 10 to 20 dollars depending on the size of your party. At average restaurants or at even fancy places where waitresses only bring the dishes without doing any extensive serving, you are not expected to tip. Good country, huh? Others I was in Seoul, South Korea about four years ago. There is no need to tip in Korea. It is not the custom. The hotels that I stay, charge a tax of 20%, so I guess that covers the hotel personnel. Over 25 visits to the "Land of the Morning Calm". |
