However, if you went to a fancy restaurant where the waitress had to serve you several courses on your individual plate or grill meat at your table, it would be a good idea to tip. They don't expect certain percentage of your bill but you can tip 10 to 20 dollars depending on the size of your party. At average restaurants or at even fancy places where waitresses only bring the dishes without doing any extensive serving, you are not expected to tip. Good country, huh? Others I was in Seoul, South Korea about four years ago. I did not tip at all but if you go to a website on South Korea you will find out what is customary. i read that from a korean lanugage book that you don't have to tip in korea. they are very happy to serve you. i never tip them when i was in korea too. they didn't seem to expect any tip from you. loney planet - korean phrasebook + personal experience. of course, you don't need to give a tip to a waitress anywhere except like a luxurious hotel. There is no need to tip in Korea. It is not the custom. The hotels that I stay, charge a tax of 20%, so I guess that covers the hotel personnel. Over 25 visits to the "Land of the Morning Calm". |
