Travel Info What are some interesting places to visit in Los Angeles that are not that well-known? Travel Tips I'm from the San Gabriel Valley in LA. The place we go hang out is Old Town Pasadena, a relatively small stretch on Colorado Blvd. where there are shops and restaurants. It's not "LA" if you want celebrities and fame. Pasadena also hosts a large park/arboretum called Huntington Library. Nice for a stroll or break from the LA traffic. Further away from Pasadena is the Getty Museum... if you into arts. http://www.getty.edu/ Others My son and I loved going to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. 6000 Santa Monica Blvd. Los Angeles. If you're into stuff like this, you can see Bugsy Seigel, Cecil B. DeMille, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. & Sr., and a memorial to Jayne Mansfield. Also Westwood Village Memorial Park, 1218 Glendon Avenue in Westwood, has Marilyn Monroe's crypt, Carroll O'Connor, Roy Orbison and Frank Zappa among others. My son's favorite was Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 West Slauson, Culver City, where Bela Lugosi is buried. John Candy is also buried there. Hope this is helpful. Personal Experience there are the typical places like hollywood blvd, griffth observatory, city walk, venice beach, I recomend visiting the santa monica promanade. Its a fun plave to shop and see street performers The old Victorian houses in the 1300 block of Carroll Ave. -- The Bradbury Building (304 S. Broadway) -- The Museum of Neon Art (Olympic Blvd. & Hope St.) -- The Museum of Jurassic Technology (9341 Venice Blvd., Culver City) If you dont mind a short trip to the City of Long Beach, there is an interesting tour of a real Soviet era diesel submarine docked right next to the Queen Mary. http://www.russiansublongbeach.com/... |
