Tourism does play a big part in the financial earnings of the country. i.e. quite a big part of the financial earnings of most countries depend on the tourism sector. For example, Malaysia. Many Singaporeans visit Malaysia during weekends or their free days to shop there, mostly because of the cheap exchange rate n the short distance. We can spend, in Malaysia, double of what we can spend in Singapore. Some Singaporeans have relatives or family members staying in Malaysia(mostly in Johor Bahru) so they visit every single weekend. Not forgetting the people who go to Johor Bahru to work everyday. As long as they go to JB, or other parts of Malaysia, there is definitely a certain amount of money that they will have to spend on food and drink, not to mention, shopping.

I believe the number of people going to JB is quite a lot, so just imagine the amount of remuneration they will generate for Malaysia.
