Travel Tips Maldivians are a Muslim population and are prohibited by law from drinking alcohol. Tourist resorts, hotels and cruise ships usually have alcohol for consumption by tourists. The Maldive Government is very strict on drugs. Don't try it. Bottom line when traveling try to respect local customs and if you can do with booze for a day or two, it would be recommended.
