What part of the city should I stay in for a 3 day tourist visit?

Travel Info
I want an area that is safe, easy to access public transit and close enough to some of the sights to walk to.

Travel Tips
Midtown is probably the best area to stay in, but it's not cheap. You're close to Central Park, Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Theater district. The rest you can catch the subway or walk to.

I stayed in Tribeca when I went, and I wish I'd stayed in Midtown.

Others
You defintiely gotta stay in Midtown if you wanna be close to stuff. You can usually find pretty good deals on hotels (though good deals are relative since it is NYC). But Midtown is definitely right in the heart of things and close to everything. Most of the hotels in Midtown require you to either show a hotel key to get to the elevators or require you to use your key card to get the elevator. Also, they all have people around "protecting" the entrance, so they're all really safe.
live close to NYC and experience
Midtown is probably your best bet. It can be pretty expensive, but if u can afford it, what the heck.
You can also stay in Astoria or Long Island City which is in Queens, much cheaper, and all the trains are easily accecable.
