Do you have any money saving tips for a family of four heading to Walt Disney World? |
Travel Info Do you have any money saving tips for a family of four heading to Walt Disney World? Travel Tips I answered this for someone else...the info. should be relevant for you, too: 1) Visit during the off season. Room rates vary, depending on the time of the year. Take advantage of the discounts! You can find discount codes on www.mousesavers.com. 2) Visit a planning site like www.allearsnet.com, which has virtually anytihing you'd ever want to know. For example, in the past I have used their menus (which include prices) to come up with a meal budget, and it was within $3 of my estimate when I completed my vacation. 3) Instead of buying a package, buy each component (hotel, rental car, tickets, etc.) separately. For example, you can save on tickets at a site like www.ticketmania.com. But be VERY careful where you buy your tickets, as there are a lot of timeshare scam places that will trick you with low prices into having to take a tour or buying bogus tickets. 4) If you're adventurous, you can get a cheap rental car and a Downtown Disney-area hotel via Priceline. You won't know where you're staying, but the deals can be excellent. www.biddingfortravel.com has great information on using Priceline. Barb Nefer http://www.castawayclub.com Others try not to spend money on the things that you dont need. and put a little money to the side it will add up. cook dont dine out, etc The discount offered by AAA for Disney Tickets may make it worth it for you to buy a membership. If you are staying at an on site hotel, take advantage of their transportation to the park, you'll save on parking. If you have access to a car, definitely purchase your snacks and beverages, ponchos/umbrellas, etc... OUTSIDE of the park area or bring them with you from home (there are many grocery stores, Wal-Marts, etc...nearby that will cost you A LOT less then what the parks charge), and take them with you when you to the Parks in a backpack or bag that is easy to carry - there is a HUGE markup on these kinds of things at the Disney Resorts and within the parks. Also, again if you have transportation, dine outside of the parks. Disney has some great restaurants, but you'll be paying hefty prices even for burgers and fries inside the parks compared to what you can get in the surrounding area. Get discounts through LEGITIMATE sources, such as AAA. The roadside stands should be illegal. Imagine taking your family through all the hassle of getting through the gates and being told your tickets expired or were stolen. You really have to watch that. Other than those discounts and maybe going to Kissimee/St Cloud or further for motels it's an expensive trip but worth it. |
