Travel Info Which is better to go to for the first time...Walt Disney World or Universal Studios...in Orlando,Florida.? Travel Tips It depends on what you like. Universal/Islands of Adventure is better for thrill ride enthusiasts, while Disney World is more family-oriented. Although Disney is now putting in some thrill rides, Universal/Islands of Adventure already has some of the best: Spiderman (a 3-D dark ride that is unlike any other), Hulk and Dueling Dragons (two excellent roller coasters), The Mummy (a rollercoaster/dark ride hybird), and Terminator 3-D (one of the best 3-D shows ever, just to mention a few). If you stay at a Universal hotel, you can cut all of the lines. If not, you can still buy a head-of-the-line pass (I think it's around $30 additional per person). That makes them more appealing than Disney in the most crowded seasons. But with four theme parks, Disney has more variety, and they do have a few "bigger" rides, like Rockin' Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Mission: Space, and the new coaster they are building in the Animal Kingdom. There are also great shows, like Illuminations, Fantasmic, and the Magic Kingdom's fireworks. If you have small children in your party, Disney has Universal beat. Although Universal has a nice Dr. Seuss-themed area, it can't beat the Magic Kingdom for bringing delight to little ones' eyes. And of course they all love to meet Mickey, Pooh, and the rest of the gang. Universal has some characters, but they are lesser known ones. If you have limited time, Universal may be better because it is smaller (two parks vs. four). Hope this helps! It depends on the age of the person who is going. If you are under 12, definitely Disney World. If you are over, it depends on your interests, but I would say Universal. Universal has a lot of Movie Themed rides that are a bit more exciting than most of the rides at Disney. Disney has a lot more kids rides. In Florida, go to Universal Studios and the MGM first. Then if you have time go to Disney. Been to all three. It depends if you have a family or not and how old they are. Disney is always the family favorite, but if you are looking for some adventure....go to Universal Island of Adventure I agree with David, Disney is great for young families and couples looking to have fun together. Universal is for older families and adventurous couples. I would choose Islands of Adventure over Universal Studios though, it is much better. |
