It depend's on how far you live from Canada and whether you're coming here for a vacation or want to live here.

If you live far away, then yes, definitely by plane. If you live in the U.S., you could travel by plane, car or Bus.
You'll be required to have proper ID, preferably a Card with your picture on it, once you reach the Border. That's if you're coming for a vacation.

If you're planning on living here, please go to your nearest Canadian Consulate or Embassy, they wll be able to give you all the information you need.
