Travelling with Desktop Computer via Commercial Airline? |
Travel Info In the near future I have to travel to a foreign country with my Desktop Computer. I will be flying via American Airlines but I have no idea on how should I approach this problem. Most definitely, the computer wont be allowed as carry on baggage therefore any packing tips or ideas will be highly appreciated. If you have experience with this, please give a hand. Thank you. Travel Tips traveling with a desktop is not an easy task. my recommendation is to get a laptop. but if you must, you will have to pay for extra baggage. i don't know the amount, but suspect over $100 each way. in order to take it safely, you will need to a place such as Mail Boxes, etc. where they can put the components in a box and wrap them for safety. Depending which country you travel to, you may have to pay custom fees. so i suggest you call the embassy or consulate and find out those details. Others First, you will not be allowed to bring the monitor. TVs and other monitor types are part of the items not allowed on most airlines. So without the monitor, all you have are the small stuff like keyboard, mouse, speakers... and the tower. I would put the tower in its box (if you still have it) or a tight fitting box then wrap it in bubble wrap. Then, if you have a huge sport bag or luggage, you can consider putting the box in the middle of it with clothes packed around it. Or get another box that will fit the tower wrapped in its bubble wrap and travel with it that way. |
