Travel Info We are traveling to Poland soon. Does anyone have practical tips on how to travel in rural areas? Travel Tips young people are more likely to speak english. older folks may know russian or german. buses and trains visit most towns. driving can be tough, especially if you are used to US roads. also, poland is infamous for having a crazy number of street signs. people tend to be somewhat stone-faced in public, but trust me- they are VERY friendly. just get them talking and they will love to share a drink or a laugh with you. beer = piwo vodka = wodka thank you = dziekuje (pronounced JEN-KOO-YUH) that's about all you need to know. have a great trip! Source(s): lived in poland Other Travel Tips if u want to travel to rural areas do it in the summer. during winter everyone is indoors and unless you have someone to take you in you'll not have much to do there. in the summer you can find nice hostels or inns. learn some basic polish phrases and talk to people. ask them and they will help you find the places and attractions that will make your vacation worthwhile. rent an old car for rural driving. buses won't do there. Hej! Im Polish... Like it is said above, youth and students speak english (if they want and aren't too shy;)/ u rather have to know exactely where to go. all is ofc written on time schedule - and it works normaly;) there are magical signs next to time of departure, but all legend/glossary is in Polish... if theres too much snow sudenly or 'sudenly' (our services are sometimes surprised theres snow in winter, u know..) there might be delays. better buy ticket earlier. u can but it fromdriver but there might be no place already on some routes (winter sports etc.) Fight for your sit, make a nice quarrel about sits numbers.. dont cound air condition works - there will be heating coz its winter period /even if theres no freeze/. relax & enjoy. greetings and good luck! (dont drink too much) I see good advice above. Learning some of the language helps. *Polski* is very difficult for most English-speakers. Trust me, I barely know any. http://poltran.com/ For anyone interested in Poland: http://polishculture.bellaonline.com/sit... |
