Travel Tips
What do you like to do and at what time of year? Is there a focus around any special activities?

There is everything from nice cities (Portland, Seattle, Vancouver BC) with great bookstores (Powells, Elliot Bay) to pretty desolate ocean stuff to hiking to skiing to world class wineries to...

A few thoughts:
a) For a city trip, I am partial to Portland. It has nice shopping (Powells, Pioneer Place, etc.), great restaurants and some decent museums. It is also near the gorge.
b) For waterfalls, I am partial to the Columbia River Gorge -- tons of great waterfalls some a very short hike away. The old gorge highway is great.
c) I think the areas around Bend (Oregon) and Twisp (Washington) are great for sort of a high desert at the edge of the mountains thing.
d) For ocean, I would consider cannon beach (Oregon) if you want a cute city by the beach and Kalaloch (Washington) if you want it a bit more wild as well as the west coast of Vancouver island. Speaking of cute towns by the water, what about the San Juan islands?
e) Vancouver and Victoria are both great places to go as well! I am a huge fan of Vancouver Island (warning: it is much larger and varied than you might think!)
f) Lakes? How about Chelan (Washington) and Okanogan (Canada).
g) National parks? Crater Lake. North Cascades. Olympic. Mt. Rainier.

In the end, a good place is probably:
a) Lodging that meets your taste preference and your budget;
b) Food that meets your taste preference and your budget;
c) Activities that allow at least two to four of you go out and do things (be it tour wineries, golf, hike, shop, eat, ski, windsurf, horseback riding, take pictures, etc.). It is best if these are *very* close (ideally no more than a 10 minute drive -- and best is within a short walk) to where you are staying!

Others
Victoria, BC is wonderful.
a GOOD PLACE WOULD BE IN OREGON SOMEWHERE COOL LIKE A HISTORIC PLACE
