Im 19 and my parents are moving to portugal to retire. Should I move to portugal with them? |
Travel Info My father is the very controlling type, and always compares everything to portugal. Its annoying. He will hear something on tv, and say in portugal its called bla, bla, bla. Then he runs to the portuguess dictionary to show me like I didnt believe him or something. Ive been to porchop land before, and it felt awkward. I could stay over my Aunts house If I stay here in NJ, but I really dont know her that well either, and it would also feel awkward. I just dont know what to do my father already somewhat threated me by saying he'll divorce my mother, because she will worry about me if I dont go. He is a bastard, but I dont mind him in short doses. He is my pops and I still kinda love the evil bastard. I also dont make enough money to afford an apartment so I feel stuck. Either stay with my Aunt or move to another country with my crazy father are my only options. That or maybe the military but I once mentioned that and my mom started crying. I do feel stuck and I need to choose something. Travel Tips DUDE your pops is right MOVE!!!! If i had the chance I would move in a heart beat Others GO!!! Get as far away from the USA as possible, I'm tellin you once your father goes back to Portugal he will be a totally different person, his mind will be at ease, and so will yours, If you stay here you will regret not going I guarantee you. Dang let me get an offer to get away from this hellhole, I probably would run barefoot. YES, MOVE NOW!!! If it doesn't work out, just bum around europe. It's a big change and one thing to keep in mind is, everything is pretty spread out. One thing to keep in mind is where will your dad be moving. To a populated area or a small village! The village my family comes from has only about 150 people in it. Most of them are elderly and only 2 children. No one about my age (I'm in my 40's). The closest town is about 45 min. to an hour away. You also forgot to mention if you spoke Portuguese! If you don't speak the language and can't find anyone that speaks the same language as you that's gonna keep you stuck with pop as the only one to speak with. (Is that a good thing...I don't know!!! :) ) Also, is there plumbing in the house you'll be moving to...not a joke!!! We were about the only house in town with a toilet and shower!!! My suggestion...get yourself a 2-way plane ticket, stay a month, decide what you want to do. If you decide to come back to the US you can! Whatever you decide...good luck!!! |
