Travel Info Should I cruise Canadian waters this year? Travel Tips Are you a sailboat cruiser? If all goes well we hope to take our sailboat up the Hudson River this summer and eventually into Georgian Bay. Last year we met sailboat cruisers at the northern tip of BAffin Island - they were from Norway, over-wintered on their frozen-in sailboat in Arctic BAy, and were hoping to complete the Northwest Passage. However, they crossed back to Norway last summer. Gerogian Bay is especially beautiful if you are thinking that area. The east coast is a bit stark and has quite a bit of rough sea and fog - my husband lived on our sailboat in Halifax harbour for five winters before I met him!! He has circumnavigated the island of Newfoundland and visited St. Pierre and Miquelon - a little piece of France in North America. So yes, of course, cruise Canadain waters this summer. Try the canal systems - if you have a sailboat you'll have to take the mast down. The Great Lakes, Georgian Bay, all beautiful.
