Travel Tips
If you want to stay downtown, you're probably going to pay a premium for a hotel. In terms of the "cheapest," that is a relative expression as there are a lot of factors that go into determining a rate for a given day.

Since you didn't say when you're traveling here, rates are going to be at their lowest during the week (Sunday - Thursday) and higher on the weekends. In addition, if there's a convention or sporting event in town, rates will be higher.

The Omni Hotel is near the waterfront, adjacent to Petco Park. This option isn't the cheapest, but it wouldn't be the most expensive one, either.

I would recommend checking out the second link that I provided below, which is the San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau. You can search for hotels through it and get maps and other information about the city. The "Where to Stay" section of the site lets you pick where you want to stay and what type of price you're looking for.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you more, but hopefully you'll be able to find something to your liking. Source(s): http://www.omnihotels.com/default.aspx...
