The Omni Hotel is connected via Skybridge to Petco Park, where the classic is being played. Of course, this might be pretty pricey. You can't go wrong staying in Mission Valley and taking the trolley downtown. The San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau web site, linked below, will allow you to find a hotel within your price range and at a location that piques your interest. Bottomline is this: Any place downtown is going to be more expensive to stay at than places outside the city. The trolley hits the high points in terms of where its stations are, so attractions are convenient to reach.
