Considering move from East Coast to San Diego - Looking for guidance...? |
Travel Info My husband, myself and our 4 year old daughter may be moving to San Diego, CA from Virginia. We'll be visiting there in January to try and familiarize ourselves with the area. Looking for opinions on safe but affordable areas that have great school districts. As a side note, we understand affordable in VA is going to mean something very different in CA. Our affordable is 3bdrm housing/condos no more than 400k in a decent neighborhood/school district. Can be outskirts of SanDiego, but no further than 40 minute commute to downtown SanDiego. Any other thoughts you have, I really would appreciate. Thanks so much and happy holidays! Travel Tips Anything in East County (La Mesa, Alpine, Lakeside, El Cajon, Santee, Lemon Grove) is affordable and the Grossmont school district is really good. There are also several private schools in the area, if that's the time of schooling you're looking for. Everywhere in East County is no more than a half hour away from downtown. Try to avoid areas in the South Bay (Chula Vista, National City, San Ysidro). These aren't great places to raise children. Personally, I recommend Santee. Try Sycamore Canyon for your public elementary school. Others In response to your comments regarding affordable living is San Diego. Below are a few San Diego Zip Codes and the average value of homes in each. May help you a bit. SAN DIEGO 92106 $548,500 92127 $523,500 92130 $585,000 Modified 1 year ago |
