Travel Info And what is it like in Los Gatos? Is it a nice place to live? Travel Tips Los Gatos is a great place to live. I wish I could afford it. It is in the foothills, so there are a lot of trees and gorgeous views up some of the roads. Houses don't usually go for under $1mill. There is a cute downtown area with good restaurants (Steamers, Willow Street, Andale) and even a decent nightlife. Good shops also. The ocean is just over the hills of Highway 17. It is kind of a windy road, but with no traffic takes about 25 minutes to the first beaches. To get to the more secluded beaches up Hwy 1 it takes about 40 mins. On the weekend, forget about it. Go really early or you will be stuck in traffic for hours. If you like that area but can't afford it, try San Jose near Santana Row. Just under 30 minutes to drive to Santa Cruz; @ 30 minutes to Capitola & an hour down to Monterrey. Los Gatos is a nice town with quaint shops, good restaurants & expensive housing! |
