What is the best way to get to the Haloween Castro event in San Francisco, from San Jose? |
Travel Info I am in San Jose for the week of October 30th, and have heard a lot about this "Castro" event in San Francisco. I have a car, but it was suggested that I take public transportation. Can someone provide me with advice as to how to get to this Castro event? thanks Travel Tips Halloween in San Francisco is wild. Perhaps too wild for many people. After last year's stabbings, carjackings, and vandalism, the city is cracking down on the Halloween celebrations...expect lots of police and roadblocks if you go tonight. Use public transportation. Take Caltrain from San Jose to the 4th Street station in San Francisco, then transfer over to MUNI's light rail (that line won't take you to the Castro, but you can transfer to the appropriate one Downtown). Plan to head back very early or very late...as there is no train service from 1 AM to 5 AM, and the last train for San Jose departs 4th Street station at 12:01 AM promptly. A car is definite no-no, as I mentioned above there will be roadblocks (which means even if you can find parking, it'll be a long walk), and the safety of your vehicle cannot be guaranteed. Good luck. Others you can totally go to yahoo maps, or you can drive your mobile vehicle to Fremont and take the Bart Train! If so then you should take a look at the listing times for Bart station; that will take some planning. good luck and have a Happy Halloween! |
