Travel Info How far is the drive from San Jose to South Lake Tahoe? Travel Tips Assuming traffic isnt bad and you like to go about 80 mph on whatever freeway you chose (i take 680 to 580 to 5 as opposed to 880 to 80) you can make it in 3.5-4 hours. But you should expect some nasty traffic during the weekends around xmas and especially new years. Its taken me up to 6 hours to get there when its snowing. Others About 4 hours , depending on where in SJ your are leaving and where in LT your are arriving , bring chains and have a blast the snow is looking good ! 3 1/2 - 4 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions. We usually figure 3.5 - 4 hours. If it's really snowy, it may take longer, even if you have a Subaru. You always manage to get stuck behind someone in a 2WD car going 20 mph. (We have a Subaru, driven by my impatient boyfriend. Which makes it all that much more "fun".) 3-1/2 - 4 hours |
