Expensive and nice: Los Gatos, Saratoga and Monte Sereno Moderate expense and nice: Campbell, Cupertino, parts of Santa Clara, parts of Sunnyvale, West San Jose Places I would avoid: Downtown San Jose, East San Jose, most of Milpitas If you want more specifics email me. I am from the San Jose area and am currently living in San Jose. I used to live in Stockton, Yuba City and Auburn so I know the Sac area pretty well and could tell you comparable areas.
