What is the most famous thing about Seattle? |
Travel Info Why would european tourists go to Seattle, any ideas about famous spots, nice places etc...?? Travel Tips This answer is in addition to all that has been previously said. Depending on how long a tourist intends to stay in Seattle, I recommend hopping on a Ferry and visiting the other side of the sound or the islands (Vashon, Bainbridge, Whidbey, The San Juans); take some urban hikes around the city - Seattle has a ton of in-city trails and you can get maps of various neighborhood jaunts; Visit Seattle neighborhoods (Fremont, Ballard, Pioneer Square, Downtown, Capital Hill, etc.), most are pretty distinct from one another, doing this will give you a much better feel of the city; Check out the Asian Art Musuem, the Glass Museum, Frye Art Gallery, MOHAI, and other musuems in the area. Plan to eat - There is a plethora of good food in Seattle, especially seafood. Take the Victoria Clipper up to Victoria and have tea at the Empress...it is a beautiful boat-ride, and high tea is much fun. If you insist on going to a Starbucks - go to the original in Pike Place Market, otherwise check the many other coffee houses in the area, Vivace, Zeitgeist, Solstice, Victrola, Verite etc. most serve much better coffee on their worst day than Starbucks any day. There are a ton of great things to do in seattle and the puget sound area - I recommend getting the Northwests Best Places guide for as an aid. Others Space Needle, Pikes Market and more dang Starbucks than should be allowed. Me! I was born there! ; ) Go to the top of the space needle, go to the wharf and watch the fish market guys (it's quite a show), go to the original Starbucks...lot's and lot's to do. Nice city.
