Travel Info How do you travel from washington to alaska other than sea or air? Travel Tips Where are you headed in Alaska? Drive up through Canada (if going north on I-5, I recommend taking 539 North out of Bellingham, as the customs line is shorter north of Lynden than it is at Blaine) and cross into Alaska anywhere at or above the Southeastern panhandle. If you want to explore SE Alaska (Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Wrangell, Petersburg, etc.) by car, you can get reservations on a ferry. If you like the ferry route, book soon, as reservations fill up quickly with tourists. Note that the ferries are not cheap. Here's a link to the Milepost, which is a guide my family always buys when driving Alaska.
