Travel Info What are some of the best unknown places to visit in and around Seattle, WA? Travel Tips I never get bored with a visit to the Chitindam Locks. On a nice day 100's of boats use the locks and you can get up close as they lock between lake and sound. Besides, it is a great spot to watch century old technology at work. The underground tour of old Seattle is well worth the time! In the fall I like to go to fish ladder on Soos Creek outside of Auburn. Take the ferry and drive to Port Townsend for an excellent side trip. If you have time stay at a B&B in Port Townsend an go for a day cruise to Friday Harbor on the Puget Sound Express Boat or take the speed boat from Port Angeles for a day trip to Victoria BC Source(s): http://www.pugetsoundexpress.com... http://www.victoriaexpress.com http://www.enjoypt.com/ http://www.undergroundtour.com/... http://www.vrseattle.com/pages/browse.ph... Other Travel Tips Seattle Weekly is a great resource for entertainment, food establishments, and events going on in the city (and has an extensive on-line version). Also the ferry that goes across Puget Sound is sort of fun to do - a great view of the City, the Olympic Mountains, and a first hand experience on the ocean. Have fun! DK NEVER BEEN THERE BUT CHECK OUT CHINA TOWN AND THE FORTUNE COOKIE FACTORY 4 ME K? Depends what you want to do... For Outdoor stuff visit Mount Rainier National Park and the Mount St. Helen's Johnston Ridge Observatory. The San Juan Islands are also great. For Museum type things check out the Pacific Science Center (especially if you have children) and the 'Underground Tour' in Pioneer Square. For more info check out these websites: http://wa.gov/visiting/index.aspx... http://www.seeseattle.org/ Drive, take your bikes, cycles or walk on to a ferry , spend the day on one of the San Jaun Islands. Of course it depends on what tickles your fancy, but here are some interesting nearby things to visit: 1. Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art in Bellevue 2. Tillicum Village on Blake Island for Alder Smoked salmon barbecue 3. The Center for Wooden Boats 4. Issaquah Salmon Hatchery 5. Museum of Glass in Tacoma 6. Hydroplane Museum 7. Nordic Heritage Museum 8. Northwest Trek (wildlife park) 9. Spirit of Washington Dinner Train (before it closes 鈥?the county wants the track) 10. Orca Whale watching |
