Travel Info Is Belltown a safe neighborhood in Seattle for a college student staying for 3-mo internship in summer? Travel Tips It's a very nice area. It's like new york. Don't walk around at 2 am alone and expect not to be panhandled. Lots of beggers. But it is very public place all hours so not to worry. Don't let the anyone talk you into missing out on one of Seattle's neatest areas. Others I seriously suggest you find another area to live. Belltown is having more than it's share of trouble from crime recently. It could depends on how far and time of day. There is good bus service in Seattle, so you may not have to walk far. Some parts of Belltown are better than others. My wife and I walk in that area day and evening a few times a month; it does not bother us. My doctor's office in that same area. Our 20 year old daughter went to school in that area for day and night classes over a two year period. Nothing ever happened to her. She kept a constant awareness of her surroundings. At first she was a little uncomfortable, but those days passed. We are an area family that who visit the area often. In fact we will be there this week for dinner. |
