Is the pike place market chinese ??and is there a china town in Seattle?? |
Travel Info Or other chinese districts ?? Travel Tips no...and yes If anything, the Pike Place Market was started and run by Italian produce merchants...and Mr. Delarenti...began the Italian grocery store (fresh cheeses & meats) canned goods and freshly made Semolina (100% wheat) PASTA...in all types. Over the years, the produce merchants' nationalities have changed a lot...to the point it might as well be called the International Market. There are Jewish merchants, ASIAN, Italian of course, Korean, Mexican, etc. etc. They not only sell the normal fresh produce, and seafood, but also fresh herbs and many INTERNATIONAL sweets, like Greek "Baklava"..and Russian "Pavitizah' Even ethnic clothing items & jewelry can be purchased from sidewalk merchants just north of the produce/fish markets; Llama items from Peru, etc. As for the CHINA TOWN...it is one of the BEST in the WEST... Vancouver, BC has a chinatown second only to San Francisco...and I think Seattle's might be tied with a few others, like Portland perhaps. There are many retail stores, restaurants, nightclubs, Martial Art studios with Kung Fu Masters teaching. The location is near the train depots, and offers easy access by busses, and (out of service for a time) the rail-car that goes to the PIKE PLACE MARKET. Chinatown is VERY close to the underground FREE Metro busses that take you all over Seattle for nothing. Source(s): A native Other Travel Tips Pike Place Market is not Chinese...not sure if there's a Chinatown in Seattle. pike street marked is NOT Chinese..don't think there's too much of a chinatown there...try Vancouver BC for more chinese people/chinatown etc There is an international district. We do not have a large population of Chinese. Mainly we have a lot of Japanese, Vietnamese and Koreans in the Seattle area. Pike Place market is a farmer's market, and while I'm sure you can purchase some asian ingredients there, it is not specifically Chinese. |
