Why do people who live in Seattle complain about the rain? |
Travel Info If people don't like rain, why do they move to Seattle? Travel Tips If they hate the rain, then they are not from here. When you grow up with it, you don't mind it at all. And if you do - move along! Go South with the birds! ;) I only really notice people complaining about the rain when we have one of those week (or more) long stretches of unending downpours. I normally don't mind the rain at all, but when I have to bail-out my basement with a bucket, well, that's another story altogether.... Others Well, Seattle is a GREAT place to live. Except for the rain... maybe because they had to move there I grew up there, and the rainy season lasts from about mid September through May. I now live on the high plains and am much happier without the clouds blocking the sunshine. Seems to me most Seattlites have vitamin D deficiency issues causing the gloomy mood that many suffer from. I did. Well, just cause you don't like the rain doesn't mean there aren't other good things about Seattle that keeps you there. It's not an either/or thing. You can complain about the weather and still enjoy other things about the area, like: - Along with the rain is a year-round mild climate. - Lots of greenery and scenery not far from the city. - Economy is in decent shape these days, having apparently recovered from the dot com collapse. - A generally progressive, liberal, well educated population. |
