Why is it soo hard to move to the US??

i live in canada and really want to move to the states.. but its soo freakin hard!! I don't know how i'll be able to get a green card.. you either need to have close family or have a job there.. you cant just go for the hell of it. And why not?? shouldn't they be happy that more people want to live in their country?? i dont get it and have no idea what to do... :/

The USA is not unique in that respect, a number of countries have strict immigration codes. I understand it's quite hard to move from the USA to Canada, too.

Interestingly, while I was in the process of jumping through the hoops to move from the UK to the USA, a friend was going in the opposite direction, and her application took even longer then mine.

I agree with you.There is too much red tape for legal immigragion to the US.The laws and standards are strict.
Apparently to enter illegally is much easier.
We have at least 11 million illegal immigrants now, with an estimated 50,000 crossing the US/Mexican border every week.
Its become much harder since 9/11, keep trying if its what you really want.

especially hard after 9/11, but if you really want to come you can marry an American, get student visa, or work visa. i duno why you want to come to the US, i rather live in Canada.
