I'm looking for good things for a family ( two adults, two teenagers, and a kid) to do in the Northwest US. |
Travel Info My family is going out west for a couple of weeks. We are going to Seattle, and parts of Washington, the top part of Oregon, and through to Montana. Does anyone have anything that would be interesting for us to do? I would love to check out some vintage clothing stores(know any good ones) and of course, we want to go all of the touristy stuff. Please help, I want to know where to go, seeing how its all foreign to me. Travel Tips I can cover Seattle for you... There's lots of popular sites to see as far as the touristy stuff goes. For one, the Space Needle is a must-see and is the icon of Seattle. You must take a ride up at least once in your lifetime to see the wonderful view that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Also go down to Pike Place Market which is where tons of vendors sell cool items. You may be able to find some vintage clothing stores in this area or close by. For the kids, Seattle Center is the place to be. There are amusement park styled rides and a giant arcade. The Pacific Science Center which includes an IMAX theatre resides here and is a lot of fun for kids. This is also where the new Experience Music Project is which is really neat if you are into music history. You can take a monorail ride from Seattle Center to Westlake Center which is a large shopping mall in downtown Seattle. They have a nice food court and some popular stores. Most of the other major sites in Seattle will all be within walking distance. The best thing you can do is walk around and see what you run into. We have a small China Town that offers some of the best Chinese food that you will find in the United States. Also, the kids may like to visit GameWorks which is a giant arcade with lots of games. Other Travel Tips go to Cannon Beach on the oregon coast..its beautiful...also Seaside (about 20 miles north) has more young attractions Take a Ferry Ride to the San Juan Islands on a Sunny Day or you can go by the Victoria Clipper. There is a really neat Animal Park near Puyallup toward Mount Rainier. Also go to Snoqualamie Falls. For clothing boutiques try downtown Seattle and maybe the U district. Unlike many large cities, there is a lot to do in the downtown area. Visit pike place, all of your kids should like it and you guys as well. My favorite part of Seattle is the area around the space needle. You can visit the top and go see the expirience music project, seattle science center, etc. If you have time go up to visit the islands. There is good antique shopping on whidbey island, the san juans and in port townsand on the penninsula. It would be a good trip for history buffs as well. The penninsula is also lovely but a bit of a trip out. Mt. St. Helens isn't the most exciting place in washington, but it is eerie and educational. Have fun! 18 years living on Whidbey Island |
