I want to go to Seattle? |
Travel Info I want to move to Seattle, some day and go on vacation there first to get a feel for what it's like. Besides the Space Needle what are the positive and negative aspects of Seattle. I heard it rains there a lot, I like rain so this doesn't bother me. Travel Tips Wow! Seattle has so many positive aspects and many of them you will just have to discover for yourself. One aspect is location, location, location! We are a short drive from the Ocean Beaches and also from some of the best ski resorts in the world (Whistler BC). In less than 2 hours you can be in another country (Canada) and in another state (Oregon) in just 3 hours. The sunsets are gorgeous, the mountain views are indescribable. You can drive over the mountains to the Eastern side of the state and experience a totally different climate. Drier, humid and lots of snow. The rain typically doesn't bother us natives. You get used to it. It is hard to raise kids as there aren't a lot of indoor resources. You have the University of Washington and many fine community colleges. If you are a sports fan - we have beautiful stadiums for baseball, football and soccer. There are lots of festivals - particularly during the spring and summer months. There are outdoor markets in the summer. The seafood is yummy and the downtown area has tons of restaurants for every palate. If you are into the outdoors (and you better be if you live here) there are lots of cycling, hiking and recreational activities and clubs. A neighborhood I might recommend for living in is Green Lake. Check it out when you visit. The traffic is a negative - but depends on where you live and where you have to commute to. I hope the above is helpful! Others Go pls. Stay there. Well some positives aspects are Seattle center which is where the space needle is.There always some thing going on there shops there a park, the secience center is there. Ok moving on Great water front GREAT resturants, take a cruise go though the Chitten locks where salt and fresh water meet. you got chinatown or propper name Intl market place.also Pike palce market the Floating bridge. you want negitive well ever been to San Fransisco? Like hills? Seattle has got same nasty ones. I love Seattle, you have a good time Seattle is a nice city and tries it's best to remain 'green', for an urban city. The waterfront is a little scary depending on where you go - when I was there last (2 months ago), we saw numerous drug deals, homeless people sprawled out, and groups of unemployed people. The Sound (Puget) is a beautiful beautiful thing when you can see it. Yes, it rains a considerable amount. It gets overwhelming for most people - even those who like the rain. Plan a get away mid-winter so that it doesn't get you too far down. The shopping is great in Seattle and they have a good amount of public transportation. Seattle has a large Asian population, so if you have any qualms about that, then reconsider. It certainly has a San Fran feel, but cozier. Enjoy! Some of the pluses are the local attractions, you have the Space Needle, The monorail, Pacific Science Center, Pike Place Market, the Ballard Locks, Woodland Park Zoo a great public transportation system the International District. The negative- the rain, it gets pretty cold. Yes, it rains a lot in Seattle. There's not much to do in Seattle...it's such a boring place. The sidewalks roll up at 5pm every night! You might want to consider a more exciting place like Brandon, Missouri! The EMP (Exprience Music Project), The Seahawks, It rains more in NYC, one BIG negative is the traffic especially @ rush hours in the morning and evening. |
