Travel Tips
Dowmtowm Seattle is a hub of shopping, business, dining, clubs, concert venues, people watching, great views, and even street performers. I used to take the metro bus downtown on Saturday mornings and shop the sales at Nordstroms or buy great food at Pike Place Market. I'd graze my way past DiLaurentis, Chicken Valley, Market Spice Tea, then sit and listen to folks play guitar or hammered dulcimer, finally heading back home loaded down with fresh bread, honey, cheese, salmon and veggies. When I got home my feet were sore, but my spirit soared. check out some of the attached links below. You also wanted to know about beaches: I think the best one that is close to downtown would be Alki Beach Source(s): http://store.nordstrom.com

Other Travel Tips
Pike place is fun,but there is the pacific science museum, the curious shop behind pike place on "Alaska way" street water front, the edge water inn for a quick shag, lol!! Do the space needle dinner thing,I-max theatre, Art museums,Wine tasting,Cheese shops,Look up the Seattle post intelllenger.com or the times on line and they usually have lots of local events and a what to do in Seattle because lots of people move there for school and work that live out of town. Oh and bring coats and sweaters,it's firkin freezing,Look what it does to Mr.Biggilsworth!
So you want the non-touristy finds? Try Gasworks Park at night, rent kayaks on Lake Union, people watch while walking around Greenlake, take a ferry to one of the islands, or visit Golden Gardens. For indoor activities, try the EMP, the new Seattle public library, or the many pubs, breweries or bars.
Take the Clipper to the San Juan Islands
Take a cruise on Elliot Bay in a sailboat
