Where is a good place to ride horses on the beach in Washington state other than Ocean Shores? |
Travel Info There seems to be a dearth of information on this topic: which beaches even allow horses on them, local regulations regarding what pace you can ride them, local boarding, etc. All I've found is a mention of Ocean Shores/Westport where the rental horses can only be ridden at a trot (I assume for liability reasons, and if you bring your own horse, you can ride it as fast as you want) Anywhere else that you know of? Travel Tips According to the Olympic National Park website, link below, states that horseback riding is prohibited on the beach in the Kalaloch, Mora and Ozette areas which are on the North coast of Washington. The Sequim website lists things to do, but doesn't include horseback riding. Wildernet.com lists the beaches at Grayland near Aberdeen as a place to ride horseback on the beach. (they list 323 places in the state to ride) Weather.com has listings for Ocean City State Park and Griffiths-Priday State Park in Copalis; Westhaven State Park in Westport; Twin Harbors State Park in Grayland; and Grayland Beach State Park in Tokeland all as spots to ride horseback. None of the listings include the pace at which the horses can be ridden, but I imagine the State Parks website or the National Parks webste might have that info.
