Travel Info What are some great things to do in seattle that i may have not heared of? Travel Tips skiing in the winter. Stevens Pass has more challenging runs than, crap, think it's off of 512. Snoqualmie Pass, duh. Point Defiance Zoo and park in Tacoma, or Woodland Park Zoo and Green Lake in Seattle. They're side by side. There's also Golden Gardens and Fisherman's Wharf. The Seattle Center has the International Pavilion. You can walk top Pike Place Market and the waterfront from there. There's also an aquarium, catch a ferry to Bremerton, it is a nice ride. There's also the science fair at the Seattle Center and a museum has been built near the mono-rail. Jimi Hendrix is from Seattle and Bruce Lee is buried there also. The best place is Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle. I know it has changed, but it used to be 6 bars for 6 dollars. Most have live bands. You know, like on a Friday or Saturday night. There's more, but it depends on how much time you have and what you like doing and the season. The Columbia river gorge is 3 hours away and is considered the 2nd best wind surfing area in the world. Washougal (near Vancouver, Wa.) has one of the best moto-cross tracks in the country. I was all around Seattle the 20 + years or so I lived there. Others When I went, I had the most fun going to the Pike Market Place, and visiting most of the shops. You can find some crazy things. I also had lots of fun trying food I don't get the chance to eat or never thought I would. There's this really good Thai resturant called Bai Tong. The food was soooo good. It's in SeaTac behind the airport where all of those hotels are. If you don't pay attention, you could miss it. Go canoeing around the university. July and August are the best times. Blackberries grow all around near the stadium. Can canoe and pick and then go home and make blackberry wine. You might want to try the Underground tour in Pioneer Square. Definitely take a ferry across Puget Sound. I loved the Experience Music Project; pretty cool if you're a rock fan. And check out Jimmy Hendrix' grave in Renton for something funky. This time of year it's great to go to Alki Beach in West Seattle. Some of the best views of the Seattle city skyline can be seen from the beginning of that beach. There is a small water taxi that you take from the main ferry terminal for $3 or you can drive around to it. The atmosphere is quite festive with people cruising on the two-lane road. There are many shops and restaurants and perhaps you can join a volleyball game or just watch one. It's a great place to people-watch and grab some fish and chips or a latte. http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/oto/wate... |
