"ferry the San Juans"?

Travel Info
I have guests coming for a weekend in August, and I want to take them somewhere beautiful without it costing a mint. I'm thinking of ferrying the San Juans or going to the Cascades National Forest area. They've seen Rainier, Seattle, and Victoria. Any suggestions - and ideas of moderate accomodations?

Travel Tips
If you want to check out the San Juan islands cheap, the ferry from Anacortes only charges for westbound traffic so eastbound is free. What you do is get on in Anacortes ride out to the farthest island, get off ferry explore island then get on east bound ferry and get off at next island explore island then get back on eastbound ferry and repeat all the way back to Anacortes. There ar lots of campsites hotels an B&Bs on the islands. Port Townsend is nice too. Lots of little shops and Fort Warden (where An Officer And A gentleman was filmed). La Conner has nice shops and restaurants too.

Others
Try visiting Anacortes or Whidbey Island. The Deception Pass Bridge is cool to see.

Oh, and then there is Friday Harbor. But I don't how much it costs to stay there.
There is also Port Townsend which has several Bed and Breakfasts.
San Juan Islands would be a good idea.
what about going east to Leavenworth??
