Seattle's great!

as far as "original" things (ie not the obvious like monorail, space needle, pike place market)

- gasworks park... a great parkland built out of an old refinery, super cool industral

- freemont.. great neighbourhood, open air market, public art

- salmon hatchery at aquarium

- people watching on Broadway/Capitol Hill

- get your car washed at the Elephant Car Wash

- UDistrict, Queen Anne, Ballard - all neat neighbourhoods, visit the brewery at Ballard.

- drive across Lak Washington on the floating bridge to historic Mercer Island ("East Seattle")

I have been to Seattle a few times, and yes, it does drizzle the rain quite a bit. That doesn't keep it from being a very pretty and clean city. I'm not sure about originality, but I loved the museums there, the space needle and the downtown market. Grab a hot coffee and stroll the streets even in the rain-it was actually fun! The people are friendly, so I'm sure they can offer you advice on local restaurants and entertainment. Have fun!

Smith Tower Observation Deck
The Smith Tower was once the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Its location near the downtown waterfront and Pioneer Square provides fantastic views of the City.

Space Needle Observation Deck
On the grounds of Seattle Center, the Space Needle Observation Deck provides 360 degree views from 520 feet above sea level. You can also view the webcam from the top of the space needle at this site.
